The best apps for toddlers do both: entertain the kiddos for a minute so you can have a break, and possibly, maybe teach them a little something about letters, colors, or numbers. That doesn't mean that all the screen time has to be empty and devoid of any educational value. But we live in the real world, and sometimes you need to make a phone call, take a shower, or eat out at a restaurant without a screaming 2-year-old demanding all of your attention. They'd go straight from playing with handcrafted wooden toys to doing Montessori-inspired activities without batting an eye, their brains satiated with enrichment. Yes, we all know that, in an ideal world, toddlers wouldn't need kid apps.
